Conservation Plan
Conservation Plan
For the past 18 years, a wildlife commission has estimated the number of loggerhead sea turle nests in a region and summarized the data in the table shown. Write a report for the commission that analyzes the data. Include the following features in your report:
- a function and its graph that models the number of nests
- future nesting predictions based on the current trend
- threats to loggerhead turtles in the United States
- conservation methods to increase the loggerhead turtle population
- nesting goals for specific years, including the average rate of change needed to accomplish those goals.
Did You Know?
- Government agencies provide resources that can help formulate a conservation plan, such as the National Resource Conservation Service, the U.S. Forest Service, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
- Some parts of the world use conservation agreements. A conservation agreement is a contract between a community and a group funding a conservation project. The community makes a commitment to protect their lands and associated natural resources in exchange for some economic benefit from the conservation group.
