Conduct a Survey
Conduct a Survey
Create a survey of at least four questions that involves both qualitative and quantitative data about the use of robotics in everyday life. Then survey a random sample of at least 50 people and record the results. Analyze the data using measures and methods from this chapter and create a presentation of your findings. Include several different data displays in your presentation.
Did You Know?
- Robotics is a relatively new, interdisciplinary branch of engineering. The development of robotics involves mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer engineering.
- Generally, there are five types of robots.
- Pre-programmed — These robots perform simple monotonous tasks. An example would be a dishwasher.
- Humanoid — These robots perform human-like activities and are sometimes designed to look like people.
- Autonomous — These robots perform tasks that do not require human supervision. An example would be a self-driving car.
- Teleoperated — These robots are controlled remotely by humans and usually perform tasks in extreme geographical conditions, weather, or circumstances. An example would be a human-controlled submersible used to explore the ocean floor.
- Augmenting — These robots either enhance current human capabilities or replace the capabilities a human may have lost. An example would be a robotic prosthetic limb.
